30 Facts

Wow! 20 random facts about myself, huh? Okay...here it goes...

1. I can play the piano fairly well...at least I could, it's been awhile. I miss my piano though - I used to get out lots of frustration on that thing!

2. When I first went to college I majored in musical theatre...then just music...then English...then elementary education.....then English and secondary education. (This is why I could never say anything about my kids not making up their minds about what they wanted to do!)

3. Ummm when I wanted to get married while we were in college, and my fiance asked me to take a break for 6 months so he could concentrate on his school and the sport that was putting him through college, I told him I would be married to someone else in 6 months........and I was.

4. I seem to lose my self-confidence in areas that I don't use every day.

5. I take a bubble bath at least once a day. In the winters I can easily take 2 a day and when I'm sick I've taken as many as 5.

6. I have dry skin.....probably due to #5.

7. I have a dog who can open about any door - and if he can't figure out how to work it (or it is dead bolted) he will take the door knob off the door.

8. I grew up in a small town with great people and my dad was sheriff. It was just like Mayberry and I was Opie.......dad never wore a gun, mom (not Aunt Bee) cooked all meals for the prisoners (except we put the food through a hole in our kitchen wall to them), we had a flag pole painter that would get drunk and "check himself in" to jail to sober up and it was my "job" to walk him around the courtyard when I was about 5 years old.

9. That flag pole painter passed away when I was in high school....I think from emphazema - and he called me a few weeks before he passed away and said he was leaving everything he had to me...of course he didn't have anything...but I still keep the little wooden furniture it set he built me when I was little.

10. I have met President Ford, both President Bushes, and attended President Reagan's first innaugaration and sang for him with the Eureka College choir. I also campaigned for Barry Goldwater when I was like 2 saying (with a little elephant beenie hat that I still have), "If I were 21 I'd vote for Barry Goldwater. This was to offset his commercials about the little kids running from the nuclear bomb that scared people. Apparently it didn't help. ha

11. I love the water.

12. I think the sun should not cause you harm.......it feels so good.

13. I am sensitive and passionate.

14. I will often break into song for no reason.

15. I clap like a kid when I get excited. (I don't really know why, and I wish I could stop...)

16. I'm a teacher and I love my job.

17. I think the world needs to stop blaming teachers for every problem children have...or making them responsible for fixing those problems. IT TAKES A VILLAGE PEOPLE!!!!

18. I would love to write a book some day.

19. I always wanted to be a famous singer (specifically a back up singer for Elvis Presley), and can sing pretty well, but I'm deathly afraid of singing in front of people by myself.......except, of course when I break into song but then I sing "goofy" and don't try to sing well. But that's why Ithought singing back up for Elvis would be perfect...I could sing on stage, but not have to stand in the center of it and have people stare at me! (seriously - who'd look at me with Elvis there?! ;)

20. I love to curl up inside a big strong hug and just r e l a x....and pray that some day I will be able to do that again.
