Describe your most embarrassing moment.
Well, if you know me very well, you KNOW I have had many embarrassing moments in my life....like the time I slipped on the newly waxed floor on the first day of high school and wiped out in front of my friends...(who pretended not to know me of course), or the time I talked to my new neighbors out in the driveway and wiped my hands off on what I thought was a dish towel thrown over my shoulder and found out when I got inside that it wasn't a dish towel at all, but my bra. There was also the time I was walking the people who were putting in my backyard fence around the yard and slipped and fell off the retaining wall (I don't even want to know what they were saying to each other in Spanish). Of course I embarrassed the kids a lot when they were young, like when I got a hair brush tangled in my hair at WalMart and couldn't get it out...and it was at Walmart again when I bent over to get a magazine off the lower rack and hit my head so hard on the rack in the middle that I about knocked myself out. One time I was sitting on the toilet and got one of those heavy wooden hangers stuck on my head. Not too long after that, I was on a ladder dusting the chandelier in the living room while the kids were watching t.v. and got my head stuck in the arms of the chandelier! There are always those little embarrassing things like wearing different colored or styled shoes...forgetting to wear shoes at all....wearing my shirts inside out and sometimes even backwards....only putting on the white conditioner mascara and forgetting to put the black stuff over it...forgetting to rub in my blush and walking around with round red dots on my cheeks.....don't forget getting my necklace caught in my pant zipers...that was awkward. Yes, I've had a lot of embarrassing moments...BUT I have to think that the most embarrasing moment I've had was when I was a teacher at Armstrong High School...............
My mom always taught me to wear my underwear on the outside of my panty hose. She swears that it helps hold them up in place so they don't sag at the ankles. So, I'm at Armstrong and had ran to the office during passing periods. When the bell rang I was on my way back to my classroom which was downstairs. I had walked the entire length of the upstairs hall and I remember feeling something at the back of my knees, but I just thought that my skirt was probably hitting me there because I was walking pretty fast so my room was unlocked for the kids. I started down the first flight of stairs and then the second and just when I hit the bottom of the steps.........PLOP!! My underwear fell to my ankles! Here I was with kids behind me and kids heading up the stairs and my damn underwear just fell off!! I didn't really know what to do. A girl who was in my regular English class the year before saw it and we made eye contact. I said, "My underwear just fell off" (I don't know why - maybe so she knew I knew..?) as I stood there frozen in shock and panic. She said, "Awww, Ms. Hustedt!" Sooo, I didn't really know what else to do - I couldn't really pull them back up at this point - because that would mean I'd have to pull up my skirt, right? Was that what I had felt on the back of my knees?? Had I just walked around the school with my underwear below my skirt and clinging to my knees?? .....and of course the big question....Are they at least "good" underwear?? ..No time to ponder those thoughts...I was in the middle of 200 kids passing to classes, standing there with my underwear around my ankles blocking traffic at the bottom of the stairs! Sooo I did what anyone else would do...I stepped out of them, bent over, picked them up, walked into the bathroom and......threw them away.
No one ever said anything....to my face anyway!!
